Damson Early Rivers

Culinary plum

Prunus insititia L.

Raised at Sawbridgeworth by Rivers and introduced in 1871. It was awarded the Award of Merit by the RHS in 1900. Fruits have softish, very juicy flesh but lacks the true damson flavour.
