Prunus domestica L.

This is an old cultivar recorded by Parkinson in 1629. It was received by the National Fruit Trials in 1947 from the Centre de Recherches Agronomiques, Pont-de-la-Maye, France, although it is thought to have originated in Spain. Received First Class Certificate from RHS in 1901. Fruits have soft, fairly juicy, sweet flesh with a fair flavour. Cooks well.
