French Damson

Culinary plum

Prunus insititia L.

Presumed to be of French origin. It was recorded in the USA in 1889. Received by the National Fruit Trials in 1948 from the University of Kentucky, USA. Fruits have fairly firm, juicy flesh with a fairly good flavour.
