Wangenheims Fruhzwetsche

Culinary plum

Prunus domestica L.

Thought to be a chance seedling from Green Gage - although seems very unlikely. It was found in the garden of von Wangenheim at Brieheim, Gotha, Germany in about 1837. It was named and distributed by Dittrich. Fruits have firm, very juicy flesh with a sweet and rich flavour.
