Raised by Charles Ross at Welford Park, Newbury, Berkshire. Introduced by Pope Brothers of Wokingham in about 1911. Received an Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1911. Fruits are soft, coarse-textured, rather dry and acid.
