Plum
An American plum having two possible origins - a) raised from seed sown in about 1790 at Prince's Nursery, Flushing, New York and b) Arose from the sucker of a rootstock of a Green Gage killed by lightning at Delancey Farm, now the Bowery in New York City. First fruited in 1818. Fruits have firm, very juicy flesh with a very sweet, moderately rich gage type flavour.
