Culinary apple

Malus domestica Borkh.

Raised in 1911 by R. Wellington at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station, Geneva, New York, U.S.A. It was introduced in 1924. Fruits have soft, loose-textured, slightly juicy flesh with a subacid flavour. Cooks quite well.
