Raised by Collister, gardener to Sir John Thornycroft, Bembridge, Isle of Wight. Introduced in 1913 by Bunyard of Maidstone. Received the Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1911. Fruits have hard, tough, coarse flesh with a slightly sweet flavour.
