Dessert pear

Pyrus communis L.

Raised in about 1829 by M. Isidore Dubuisson, a nurseryman at Jolain, near Tournai, Belgium. First fruited in 1834. Fruits have white, very melting flesh with a sweet and perfumed flavour.
