Farleigh Damson

Culinary plum

Prunus insititia L.

A wild seedling found by Mr James Crittenden of Farleigh, Kent and introduced in about 1820. Fruits have firm flesh with a rich flavour when cooked. Trees are sometimes used as a windbreak.
