Raised at Barnack, Northamptonshire in about 1840 and introduced in about 1870 by Brown of Stamford. Received an Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society in 1899 and a First Class Certificate in 1909. Fruits are sweet, crisp and juicy with a good flavour.
